Our standard fully managed cloud offering is built primarilyaround AWS, where we manage both ArcGIS Enterprise and the underlying cloud infrastructure.For other cloud environments, we work with your organization to define the appropriateinfrastructure and management approach

What does an ArcGIS Enterprise cloud migration look like?

Accepted Answer

Cloudpoint assesses your existing ArcGIS Enterprise environment, dependencies, data,applications, and target infrastructure before building the new environment. ArcGIS Enterprisecontent and enterprise geodatabases are migrated using the appropriate Esri and databasetools, then services, applications, integrations, and editing workflows are tested and validatedbefore cutover. Migrations may include on-premises to cloud, cloud-to-cloud, or ArcGIS Onlineto ArcGIS Enterprise in the cloud, and can also include a version upgrade when appropriate.Downtime is typically limited to the final cutover window.

What kind of performance can we expect in the cloud?

Performance depends on a combination of factors, including a right-sized architecture, networkconnectivity, and well-optimized GIS services and data. Cloudpoint designs the environmentaround your organization's workflows and performance requirements, with the goal ofproviding a consistent, responsive user experience.

Do you offer enterprise geodatabase and database migration services?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cloudpoint regularly includes enterprise geodatabase migration as part of ArcGIS Enterprisedeployment and cloud migration projects, with SQL Server and PostgreSQL being our primarysupported database platforms. Migration planning considers the database itself as well as usersand permissions, scheduled processes, ArcGIS database connections, registered data stores,service dependencies, backup configuration, and recovery requirements. Other databaseplatforms can be evaluated based on the requirements of the environment.

How will our GIS staff connect to and edit data in the cloud?

Accepted Answer

The best approach depends on how your team uses ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise. Usersmay work through feature services, direct enterprise geodatabase connections, or acombination of both. For workflows requiring direct database access, Cloudpoint providesAmazon WorkSpaces so ArcGIS Pro and the database remain close together in the cloud, helpingminimize network latency.

What is included in the monthly managed services fee, and are infrastructure costs separate?

Pricing includes AWS costs, which Cloudpoint pays directly to the cloud provider as the accountmanager. The managed services fee covers a dedicated GISP-certified project manager, ArcGISEnterprise patching and upgrades, Enterprise backups, system monitoring, and remote technicalsupport. Cloudpoint also provides full infrastructure management, including operating systempatching, infrastructure backups, and cloud administration.

How are backups and recovery handled?

Cloudpoint uses a layered backup and recovery approach to protect cloud infrastructure,databases, and ArcGIS Enterprise. For AWS managed environments, our standard configurationuses AWS Backup with daily and weekly backups, supplemented by application- and database-level backups appropriate to the environment. Retention is tailored to each client’srequirements, and recovery procedures are periodically tested to verify that systems and datacan be successfully restored.

Who owns our cloud environment, data, and Esri licenses?

Accepted Answer

Your organization retains ownership of its data and Esri licensing. Cloudpoint manages adedicated AWS account for your organization, and the environment can be transitioned to yourteam or another provider if your management needs change.

Accepted Answer

Your team remains focused on GIS data, maps, applications, users, and business workflows.Cloudpoint manages ArcGIS Enterprise and the underlying AWS infrastructure, includingsoftware patching and upgrades, operating system maintenance, monitoring, backups, andrecovery. Additionally, you may contract with Cloudpoint for GIS professional services, staffaugmentation, or additional GIS support.
