Things have been moving full speed ahead at Cloudpoint, and we couldn’t be more excited about the momentum. As demand for our geospatial services continues to grow, so does our need for fresh talent to keep the wheels turning. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce five incredible new team members who have recently joined the Cloudpoint crew. Each of them brings their unique skills, stories, and energy—and we’re lucky to have them on board. Keep reading to get to know the newest faces behind the maps!
Jeremy Conner
Infrastructure Team Lead
Jeremy holds a Master of Geographic Information Systems from Penn State, a GIS Certificate from the University of Denver, and a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Jeremy spent six years as a GIS Consultant with TRC (previously Locana), specializing in Utility Network implementations for gas and electric utilities. Prior to his GIS career, he served for six years as a U.S. Navy Aircrewman and Rescue Swimmer aboard the MH-60R helicopter. Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys training in Jiu Jitsu, reading, working out, and spending time with his wife Jessica and their daughter Abigail. He’s a member and past president of the GIS Association of Alabama and lives with his family and two cats, Walter and Leroy—in Alabama.
Cassidy Killian, GISP
Senior GIS Project Manager
Cassidy brings over two decades of geospatial expertise and public-sector leadership to the team. He earned his B.S. in Geography from Illinois State University and is a certified GIS Professional (GISP). Prior to joining Cloudpoint, Cassidy spent 17 years as the GIS Coordinator for the Town of Normal, IL, and previously worked as a Geospatial Analyst and Cartographer for federal contractors. He is an active member of ILGISA, where he has served on the Board of Directors and chaired the Program Committee. Outside of work, Cassidy is passionate about travel, especially trips centered around outdoor adventures, live music, or dirt late model races across the Midwest. Cassidy and his wife, Beth, recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Helena Taflin
Systems Engineer
Helena holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s in GIS from San Diego State University. She previously served as a GIS Solutions Architect at Integral GIS in Seattle, where she spent five years supporting electric utility and commercial real estate clients, followed by two years at REI, Inc. as a Solutions Architect. Eager to return to her GIS roots, Helena is excited to be part of the Cloudpoint team. A fun fact: she has lived in every continental U.S. time zone. In her free time, Helena enjoys rock climbing, traveling, playing board games, and recently started exploring pottery. She lives in Washington State with her partner, Hank, and their mini Aussie, Benji.
Scott MacDonald
Solutions Engineer
Scott has a diverse background in GIS, environmental geography, and public engagement. He holds a B.A. in Geography from the University of Missouri and an M.S. in Geography from McGill University, where his graduate research focused on greenhouse gas emissions at a restored peat bog in Alberta, Canada. Scott began his career at Esri, first as an ArcGIS Enterprise documentation writer and product engineer, then as a solution engineer supporting state and local government clients. He later spent three years at SSP Innovations as a GIS Sales Engineer, specializing in utility GIS. Beyond his technical expertise, Scott is a lifelong musician—trained as a classical pianist, he now performs at local venues and serves as Chorus President and podcast producer for the Bach Society of Saint Louis. He’s also an avid gardener, having replaced most of his lawn with native plant gardens. Scott lives in St. Louis with his wife Claire, a fellow GIS professional, and their daughter Genevieve.
Abbey Gilles
GIS Technician
Abbey earned her Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Resources with a GIS specialization and a minor in Environmental Science from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale, graduating in May 2025. Abbey previously interned at Cloudpoint in the summer of 2024, where she gained hands-on experience and quickly proved herself a valuable team member. Originally from Hanna City, IL, she credits her parents with instilling in her a love for gardening and environmental stewardship—principles she continues to live by. Outside of work, Abbey enjoys walking, crocheting, growing cut flowers, collecting houseplants, thrifting, and spending quality time with family and friends. She’s also a proud cat mom to Earl, whom she bottle-raised from 3 weeks old and has taught how to sit and give high fives.
