The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office has officially released the funding guidelines for the FY2026 School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)Â (Opportunity Number: O-COPS-2026-172540). There is up to $73 million available nationally for school districts and local governments to fund school safety technology, infrastructure, and mapping projects, with a final submission deadline of August 11th, 2026Â (Step 1 via Grants.gov is due August 4th).
The grant explicitly covers the acquisition of GIS mapping software and localized site mapping to significantly improve first-responder coordination. The federal prioritization of tactical emergency communication and high-fidelity campus site mapping is an exciting development that Cloudpoint fully supports. Cloudpoint has already developed incredible indoor data structures for K-12, University, and College campuses, and we are ready to assist school districts, local governments, and law enforcement agencies in vastly improving their building emergency data.
According to the Notice, the following projects are highly eligible for grant funding:
Indoor Mapping for K-12 Schools
GIS software and projects supporting the creation of accurate campus and indoor school map data layers provide critical situational awareness to assist law enforcement during emergencies. Our mapping data features detailed floor plans for each level of the building, all room names and numbers, access-control and doorway locations, and any other locational details that may be useful in high-stress emergency responses. Wherever possible, digital maps are developed with an eye toward integration into multi-use situations, including, but not limited to, 9-1-1 dispatch mapping, mobile CAD applications, and real-time emergency response tracking systems. These school safety maps leverage the universal Esri ArcGIS platform to directly coordinate spatial intelligence between school grounds and local first responders.

Comprehensive Safety & Security Asset Mapping
To maximize first responder effectiveness, digital floor plans must be populated with actionable, real-world tactical data. While school districts work alongside law enforcement to conduct mandatory school safety assessments, Cloudpoint’s onsite survey and asset mapping provide the critical visual infrastructure to execute those emergency plans. Funded under the grant's allowable "GIS Software" technology criteria, our staff will locate, map, and attribute critical safety assets to build a complete operating picture for dispatchers and responders, including:
Fire Prevention:Â Alarms, smoke detectors, extinguishers, pull stations, and control panels.
Safety and Security:Â Security camera locations, emergency lighting, panic buttons, exit signs, first aid kits, Stop the Bleed kits, AED units, emergency phones, and Lock/Knox Boxes.
Utility Shut-offs:Â Gas, water, and electrical breaker control panels.
Accessibility & Navigation:Â Entrances/exit points, elevators, ramps, stairways, and wheelchair lifts.
When an emergency occurs on a school campus, local first responders need immediate, flawless layout data to coordinate their response. Accurate, spatial intelligence saves lives when seconds count, and Cloudpoint is ready to help you tailor a high-fidelity mapping solution that perfectly aligns with the federal criteria. For full details on eligibility and allowable costs, you can review the official DOJ COPS SVPP Program Page.
