Cloudpoint recently hosted another successful Local Government GIS Solutions Showcase, this time in the heart of Central Illinois. Held at the Fire Department Headquarters in Normal, the event brought together professionals from a wide range of local government departments and agencies. Those who braved the snowy weather joined in for a full day of learning and exploration of Esri-powered geospatial tools.

Serving as Emcee was Business Development Manager Bill Steele, who kept the agenda flowing seamlessly. Presenters included Cloudpoint team members Cassidy Killian (Senior GIS Project Manager), Matt Junker (Ongoing Services Manager), and Hunter Ray (Technical Services Director). The crowd was also joined virtually by remote employees Jeremy Conner (Infrastructure Team Leader and ArcGIS Utility Network subject matter expert) and Steve Bowley (Campus Facilities Team Lead and ArcGIS Indoors subject matter expert), marking the first time a Cloudpoint Showcase featured remote technical presentations!

The day's sessions covered a wide range of impactful topics, from ensuring ADA compliance in GIS environments to deploying Parcel Fabric for smarter data management. Other highlights included:

  • Electric Outage Management using ArcGIS Online

  • Capital Improvement Planning and Sidewalk Management Esri Solutions

  • GeoAI capabilities and real-world examples in ArcGIS

  • Digitizing inspection workflows

  • Virtual Session: Live overview, demo, and Q&A exploring ArcGIS Utility Network and ArcGIS Indoors with Cloudpoint's subject matter experts

Participants had the opportunity to see these solutions in action through live demonstrations and real-world use cases. As always, the focus was on practical strategies that local governments can implement to improve efficiency, data quality, accessibility, and cross-departmental decision-making.

The addition of our first virtual presentations broadened the conversation to include subject-matter experts from across the country, demonstrating the power of GIS to connect people, places, and technology.

Our Local Government Showcases are part of Cloudpoint's ongoing commitment to supporting organizations through education, partnership, and solution-driven innovation. We are grateful to the Town of Normal Fire Department for generously providing the meeting room and to all who participated in making this event a success.
