Chicagoland NG9-1-1 Dispatch Organization Receives Data Audit

Cloudpoint has been working with a new client, Norcomm 9-1-1 Consolidated Dispatch Center of Franklin Park, IL. Norcomm's call center serves over 250,000 people each day by providing dispatch services for police, fire and emergency medical in several communities in the Chicagoland area. It is crucial that they keep a close eye on their GIS data accuracy for responding to calls in the most timely manner. To help them stay on top of this demanding task, the center has contracted with Cloudpoint to provide a GIS data audit.

The first step in data audit process for any costumer’s GIS data is to compare it to the State of Illinois' GIS data standard requirements as set forth by the office of 9-1-1 Administration. Then a report is generated for the client which identifies missing fields or inaccuracies within the data. The next step is to check for any geometry errors such as overlapping intersections of road centerline layers, misplaced address points, or gaps & slivers between adjacent emergency service boundaries. Lastly the customer is provided an appraisal with the level of effort involved with getting their data to meet or exceed the state's requirements. The Client may then choose to hire Cloudpoint's team for data cleanup services following the audit work.

Aiding Norcomm in improving response times and accuracy to make data-driven decisions is Cloudpoint’s highlight of this project. Norcomm recognized the importance of having well-functioning, accurate GIS for their emergency responders and dispatchers. By enabling their staff to have this asset, they are going above and beyond to provide the best care for the public.
