2022 Year in Review

As another year draws to a close, our team is reflecting on the last 12 months, thankful for our growth and continued success. Here are some of our most memorable events throughout the past year:

January:

We started the year by taking all new staff headshots (shout out if you noticed the upgrades on our staff page and webinar invites!) We contracted work with a number of repeat clients, including WINGIS (Winnebago County Geographic Information Systems) and Fond du Lac County, WI. Additionally, Matt, Sahara, and Hunter all celebrated birthdays: 3 days in a row!!!

February:

February was a busy month, with starting webinars back up for the year and starting conference season off strong. We appeared at NASECA-WI, IPLSA, WASBO Facilities Management Conference, and (last but not least) WLIA! Matt presented on the Parcel Fabric at IPLSA, and 4 of our staff members presented at WLIA. You can check out similar presentations below. WLIA’s carnival night prompted us to make a GIANT map of Wisconsin for a game we called “On Wisconsin” *cue the University of Wisconsin Theme Song*. And, closer to home, Jon and Tyler had the chance to tour the Rivian facility, Bill celebrated his second work anniversary and Erin celebrated her birthday.

March:

This month included the start of a number of exciting projects, including contracts with two large municipalities in Wisconsin and Illinois. A large indoor mapping project at a manufacturing facility in Davenport, Iowa was a great success. Tyler was busy with data collection work, Jon celebrated his birthday, Virginia celebrated her first work anniversary here at Cloudpoint, and, to top it all off, we exhibited for the first time at MPSCC in Missouri, as well as a return appearance at WATERCON.

April:

During the month of April, we exhibited at both the MAGIC Conference and IPAI. Daniel attended the Louisiana APCO/NENA Symposium. We also renewed our Indoor GIS specialty. On the sales side, we contracted with three counties in Illinois - Lake County, Stark County Highway, and Kankakee County ETSB, as well as Menominee County in Wisconsin. Tyler celebrated a birthday, and Erin had her four-year work anniversary.

May:

This month, we celebrated Public Works Week with not one, but two APWA Conferences - in both Peoria and the Chicago Suburbs. We also had a great team lunch to celebrate team birthdays, anniversaries, and Sahara’s wedding. Frisbee golf in Roanoke Park made for a fun afternoon of team building. A number of exciting contracts were closed: from managed service client renewals to a Field-to-Office Kickstart for our hometown of Roanoke, IL, and many more.

June:

As June started, Virginia headed up to Mackinac Island for IMAGIN conference. The month continued with Erin and Hunter going to ITAG in Iowa. The team celebrated Go Fishing Day with some catches of their own, and everyone worked from home on National Work from Home Day. In the field, Tyler had the opportunity to train a public works department on data collection. The team settled into a new hybrid work schedule, which is favored by all, and for celebrations: Tyler, Jodi, and Matt all celebrated their six-year work anniversaries.

July:

Jon had the opportunity to attend the Esri User Conference and took multiple past and present clients out to dinner. We also celebrated the accomplishment of Erin Strickler, Hunter Ray, and Virginia VanderVeen on earning their GIS Professional certification. We helped a nearby municipality with a Field-to-Office Kickstart, and celebrated Hunter’s two-year work anniversary and Jodi’s birthday.

August:

August was an exciting month for Cloudpoint! The month started with a trip for Jon to Providence, Rhode Island for the Campus FM Technology Association Conference. We celebrated Bill’s birthday, Daniel’s first work anniversary, and Cloudpoint’s 11-year anniversary! All Cloudpoint employees got together for our Annual Company Meeting, which included valuable discussions about the future of the company, team-building activities, group pictures, a delicious lunch provided by Caleri’s, and golfing. We ended the day with a Class-A minor league baseball game for the whole family, complete with BBQ and Dippin Dots for all.

September:

The search was on in September for a qualified GIS Technician to join our team. We presented alongside client Heartland Fiber about how Cloudpoint has helped their company to build and maintain their Fiber Optic network using ArcGIS Online. We geared up for our busy conference season and ended the month with our first of many - the American Water Works Association Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Conference in Addison, IL.

October:

We kept ourselves busy in October between multiple conferences, namely:

And we signed on a number of clients: Xavier University, Tazewell County IL ETSB, a parcel fabric migration for Tippecanoe County, Indiana, and more work for Woodford County, Illinois, to name a few. Brittany joined the team as a GIS technician and Sahara celebrated her one-year work anniversary.

November:

We continued work with new client Lake County, Illinois, had parcel fabric work in Wisconsin, signed on a brand-new SignOps client, and supplied a local municipality with a Lead Service Line Replacement solution. We celebrated GIS Day with donuts, pizza, cake, and trivia. It was a fun day for all! We also tooted horns for both Virginia’s and Daniel’s birthdays.

December:

Months of preparation culminated in a successful Local Government Solutions Showcase in Zionsville, Indiana. Jon and Megan hosted employees and their significant others for a delicious Christmas dinner and games. We officially adopted the highway going through our hometown of Roanoke, and Brittany celebrated a birthday. An early Christmas present came in the form of our State and Local Government Specialty from Esri. Of course, the holidays brought some much-needed rest and time with families. Still, we could not forget some of our most cherished clients by sending them tons of goodies in Christmas baskets made by our local bakeries (shoutout to Caleri’s and Braker’s).

Thanks for supporting us in 2022, we look forward to continued growth in 2023!
