Illinois NG9-1-1 GIS Grants announced for FY2025

The Illinois Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator has released information for FY2025. There is $12 million available for funding GIS projects with a submission deadline of February 20th, 2024. New to this year, the grant now covers the creation of indoor school (K-12) map data layers, while still supporting projects for required GIS data layers. The state’s prioritization of Indoor school mapping is an exciting development that Cloudpoint fully supports. Cloudpoint has already developed incredible Indoor data for schools and we are ready to assist Illinois PSAPs in vastly improving their school building emergency data.

According to the Notice, the following are eligible for grant funding:

Indoor Mapping for K-12 Schools

GIS projects supporting the creation of indoor school map data layers (K-12), to provide critical geospatial information to assist first responders in emergencies. Indoor data layers should include detailed floor plans of each level of the building, all room names and numbers, doorway locations, and any other locational details that may be useful in emergency response. Wherever possible, indoor data layers should be developed with an eye toward current or future integration into multiple-use situations, including but not limited to 911 dispatch mapping, mobile CAD applications, and real-time emergency response tracking applications. Indoor school maps will utilize the Esri ArcGIS platform and will be incorporated as a layer in the Illinois State Police NG911 GIS Hub.

State-Required GIS Data Layers

GIS Projects that support creation, quality control and updates of the required GIS data layers in preparation for NG9-1-1 readiness. As defined in the Illinois NG9-1-1 GIS Data Standards, the required data layers include road centerlines, address points, PSAP boundaries, emergency service boundaries, and provisioning boundary layers. Strongly Recommended and Recommended layers defined in the Illinois NG9-1-1 GIS Data Standards are encouraged to be part of the project proposal.
