Meet the newest addition to the team! Virginia is our first fully remote employee! Residing in Michigan, she is our Enterprise Solutions Engineer. Virginia’s expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise has greatly improved the quality of our services for clients.
Being our Enterprise Solutions Engineer, Virginia serves on the Enterprise team, providing technical support of Enterprise GIS deployments and implementations as well as assisting with system architecture planning. She provides superior support for our clients with configuration, customization, and integration of the ArcGIS platform with their daily workflows and decision making. She also performs scripting and automations for process improvements on various GIS projects.
Virginia comes to us with a plethora of experience, ranging from a GIS internship at Michigan State to working as a GIS Research Assistant for the Center for Health and Data Research and Analysis Mapping at Western Michigan University. Most recently she held the position of GIS Analyst at the City of Battle Creek, MI.
Virginia and her newly adopted, 4 year-old, Pit Bull mix, Hamilton.
When asked how she became interested in GIS, she said “For my planning degree, we were required to take a couple GIS courses. This was the first I had ever heard of the technology. After taking the courses, I liked it so much that I decided to get my minor (in GIS). After graduating, I decided to pursue my masters in geography with a focus in GIS.”
Virginia received her Bachelor’s of Science in Urban Planning and Regional Planning with a minor in Geographic Information Science from Michigan State University. She also attended graduate school for Geography.
An interesting fact is when Virginia was 20, she was in a band that played all over Michigan. The band professionally recorded a “really bad CD.” Today, Virginia’s love for music remains; she enjoys playing the guitar, singing, and writing songs. She also enjoys rock climbing and yoga. In the past, she has volunteered at Equality Michigan, HQ ( Grand Rapids Homeless Youth Drop-In Center), and she currently volunteers at the Humane Society of West Michigan.
