Leading the Way at WATERCON 2022

Another WATERCON has come and passed, but what a show it was! Bill, Jon, Matt and even Sahara put in time at the booth during the show, and it was a good thing all of us were there, as the attendance was fantastic. The Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association is billed as one of the premier conferences relating to water and wastewater systems in the Midwest: the number of attendees, educational sessions, and vendors proved it.

Our booth on the end of ONE row of vendors, yes it stretched the entire length of the hotel.

The hot topic all around was the replacement of lead service lines (LSLR). While the Federal government has outlawed the use of lead in service lines and fittings since 1986, and efforts have been made over the decades to replace as many lead lines as possible, recent legislation has provided the much needed money to take on the monumental task of replacing ALL lead service lines across the country.

(4) Lead service line. The term “lead service line” means a pipe and its fittings, which are not lead free (as defined in section 300g–6(d) of this title), that connect the drinking water main to the building inlet.
— Section 1459B of the Safe Drinking Water Act (42 U.S.C. 300j-19b)

Matt had a great presentation that was well attended and received wonderful reviews. Jon, ever the professional, helped a couple of current clients with some Field Map questions, while Bill yucked it up with attendees and filled bags with business cards and whitepages. We had a chance to breakout our new Cloudpoint socks and Bill even got a new tire out of the deal (after banging a curb so hard his teeth rattled)! All-in-all another successful WATERCON is completed. On to the next conference!
